Our story
About
Quintessence OÜ is a dynamic family run company that focuses on importing top quality small production French wines to Estonia. The founder and CEO, Estonian-born wine enthousiast Maria, has spent decades living in France. Over the course of many years she has completed several internationally renowned wine courses such as WSET level 3 and French Wine Ambassador. It is her mission to introduce more extraordinary wines to the Estonian clients, may it be a restaurant, wine bar or private customer.
Through Quintessence we promote winemakers who are mostly certified bio or biodynamic, respect the environment and the most natural process of wine making. Since 2021 we carefully select our wines and all references come in small quantities, often because their production is very limited. For certain bottles we suggest preordering.
Our wine list changes several times a year. In the spring-summer season there are more light whites and rosés on the menu while the cooler seasons present a larger choice in reds and fuller whites. There are of course also the timeless bestsellers that we try to have on hand all year round. We are happy to announce that soon there will be more exciting additions to our wine selection in the form of wine related trainings and masterclasses.

Maria is an Estonian living in France for over a decade. A seasoned entrepreneur, she reconverted from luxury beauty into wine in 2019, passing several renowned exams such as WSET 3 and French Wine Ambassador. In 2021 she also started importing quality small producer French wines to her native country.
In addition to wine trade, her company Quintessence provides consulting services in cellar management as well as masterclasses and tasting events in various wine subjects. In the future she thrives to become an even more active advocate for French wine and cuisine worldwide.
